Overview
The error indicates that Write to File Action failed to write data into specified file.
Event examples
See some examples of the Could not write to file Event messages:
- Could not write to file "A:\files\prepare.txt". The system cannot find the path specified. [os:3]
- Could not write to file "\\db.local\share\invoices\orders.csv". The user name or password is incorrect. [os:1326]
- Could not write to file "C:\Reports\compute202611.txt". No mapping for the Unicode character exists in the target multi-byte code page. [os:1113; aw:8]
Cause
Possible causes include an invalid file name or path, a read-only file, insufficient write permissions for the user account running Automation Workshop, or an inaccessible or read-only local or network destination.
Solution
Verify whether specified path or file name does not contain characters that are not allowed in file name. Check if specified file is read-only.
Login with administrator account to set appropriate permissions. To set permissions, open Security tab in specified folder properties, choose user account on which Automation Workshop is executed and mark necessary checkboxes. Verify if destination drive and location is accessible and is not read only.
SMB signing required?
The device hosting the share may not support SMB signing or may not have it enabled. Enable SMB signing on the server or NAS if possible. Alternatively, the requirement can be relaxed on the affected computer, but this reduces protection and should only be used on trusted networks.
