Submit Web Form sends form data to a website, API endpoint, or online service. Its form settings define the submission address, the data format, the form fields to send, and the Internet & Web Profile used to make the connection.

Specify a fixed form URL, an API endpoint, or a dynamically built address that includes variables from files, Triggers, previous Actions, dates, times, or other workflow data. The form submission response can then be used by later Actions through Variable Wizard.

FormDetails
Submit to URLEnter the webpage URL or API endpoint where the form data will be submitted. The address can point to a public website, an internal web application, a REST API, a local service, or any other HTTP or HTTPS resource.

Use this field to submit search requests, database forms, internal forms, portal entries, report filters, status updates, or form-based API requests. The URL may include variables when the destination depends on dates, identifiers, customer records, form context, or previous workflow results.
Examples:
  • 10.0.3.3/service/form?type=request
Format Choose how the form fields are encoded and included in the request body. Use the format expected by the receiving website or API.
  • Multipart form · Send fields as multipart form data, including text values and file fields.
  • URL encoded · Send fields as standard key-value pairs encoded for form submission.
List of entries Define the form fields included in the request. Each entry contains a field name or key and the corresponding value to submit. Enable or disable individual entries without removing them from the list. The available field structure depends on the selected form format.
Editing Use the editing controls to manage form entries:
  • Add – create a new form entry.
  • Edit – modify the selected entry (press F2 or double-click).
  • Remove – delete the selected entry.

Use the context menu for additional options such as duplicate, move, enable, or disable entries, and quick access to related editing features.
Min / Max Resize the form entry list. Press F11 to toggle between compact and expanded views.
Use web internet profileThe Internet & Web Profiles Manager provides centralized management for reusable web connection settings. Each profile can include connection, authentication, security, header, cookie, parameter, cache, and limit settings that can be shared across multiple Actions.

Choose an existing profile from the list of available profiles, or create a dedicated profile when this request needs its own credentials, TLS behavior, redirects, proxy settings, DNS options, cookies, throttling, or connection limits.

For Submit Web Form, the selected profile controls how Automation Workshop connects to the form destination before sending the form data. Use it to keep authentication, cookies, shared headers, security rules, connection reuse, throttling, and request limits consistent across repeated form submission tasks.
Variable WizardVariable Wizard buttonUse dynamic data input—substitute a parameter from a file, web, connected Trigger, other Actions, date and time presets, etc.

Multipart form

Multipart form mode sends form fields as multipart/form-data, where each field is submitted as its own part of the request. Use this format for file uploads, mixed text and file values, and web forms that require multipart submission.

Edit multipart/form-data values…

Multipart entries can contain either text values or file values. Use text fields for regular form data, and file fields when the form expects an uploaded document, image, archive, report, or other file.

FormDetails
Name Enter the field name expected by the website or service. The name identifies the field in the submitted form data and must match the parameter name used by the target form or API endpoint.
Type Choose whether the multipart field sends a text value or a file:
  • Text · Sends a regular text value as the field content.
  • File · Sends the selected local or network file as the field content.
Value Enter the text value or select the file that will be sent for this multipart form field. Use text values for regular form fields, and file values when the form expects an uploaded document, image, archive, report, or other file.

URL encoded

URL encoded mode sends form fields as key-value pairs in the standard form submission format. Use this format for regular web forms, simple API form requests, search forms, filters, and other text-based submissions.

Edit URL encoded values…

URL encoded fields contain only key-value text pairs. Use this format for simple forms where each submitted value is represented by a field name and a text value, without attaching files or multipart content.

URLDetails
Key Enter the field key expected by the target form or service. The key identifies the submitted value and must match the parameter name used by the website, API endpoint, or internal application.
Value Enter the value that will be sent for this URL encoded field (key). The value can be fixed text or dynamic data inserted with variables from files, Triggers, previous Actions, dates, times, or other workflow sources.

Interconnect

  • Submit Web Form integration and auditing—Variables (dynamic data) and Events (recorded activity). Retrieve the form submission response returned by the server, along with the status code, response headers, final URL, and timing information.

Note

  • For straightforward file uploads that do not require form fields or multipart form data, use the Upload File to Website Action. It is designed for direct file transfer using standard HTTP methods such as POST, PUT, or PATCH, as well as custom methods supported by the destination service.
