By default, Microsoft Windows Vista does not have telnet client installed. You have to install telnet client, otherwise, error message will be displayed:
'Telnet' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
How to install telnet client on Windows Vista? Click Start button, select Control Panel, Programs, and click on Turn Windows Features on or off. In the available program list, scroll down and select Telnet Client. Click OK to start the installation. Alternatively, run the following command string from command prompt or Run window:
start /w pkgmgr /iu:"TelnetClient"
This may take a few minutes (depends on system overall performance) to install telnet client. Note that this must be done only once.
