Temporary file attribute shows whether the file is used for temporary data storage. Various software create temporary files (files with temporary attribute) in order to save data automatically while the work is still in progress. This allows to restore data in case of accidental power loss or system hang-up even if the work was not saved. Files with temporary attribute are usually deleted by the software which created them after the work is finished.
Though temporary attribute provides possibility to mark files that are created for temporary use, this attribute is not commonly used. It can be used rather arbitrary if needed but attention must be paid if some specific software is not treating this attribute as essential (e.g. for disk cleaning purposes).
febooti fileTweak allows to operate with Temporary attribute, however please proceed with caution and change this attribute only if you are absolutely sure it is the correct solution of particular problem situation.
- Temporary attribute is file only attribute and can not be set on folders.
