When sending email, in most common cases it is sent to remote server specially configured to receive mails in order to forward them farther over the Internet. SMTP server processes outgoing mails of original sender. In other words, outgoing server proceeds with mails sent through it (namely, outgoing mails from the viewpoint of original sender).

Command syntax:
  • febootimail -SERVER outgoing.email.smtp.server.com
  • febootimail -SMTP 10.1.1.17

-SMTP or -SERVER switch specifies outgoing mail server address. Both IP address and name (or domain name) can be used. If -SMTP or -SERVER switch is not used, Command line email utility uses localhost (127.0.0.1), which means that mail server must operate on the machine from which dos email is sent.

C:\>febootimail -SERVER smtp.server.com -FROM jack@sender.com -TO john@dos-mail.com -TEXT send out DOS e-mail from DOS prompt using outgoing email server

In case mail server is not running on the same machine from which dos mails are sent, specifying an outgoing mail server is a mandatory.
