After reading a Windows registry value, the Read Registry Value Action stores value data, value name, value, key name, and Completion status in dynamic Variable Wizard values. These dynamic values can be automatically retrieved by other Actions of the same Task and used as their parameters.

Value data Returns the data stored in the read value.
Example:

Value name Returns the name of the read value.
Example:
  • ExampleName
Value type Returns the type of the read value.
Examples:
  • REG_SZ
  • REG_MULTI_SZ
  • REG_EXPAND_SZ
  • REG_BINARY
  • REG_DWORD
  • REG_DWORD_BIG_ENDIAN
  • REG_QWORD
  • REG_LINK
  • REG_NONE
Key name Returns the name of the key in which the read value is located.
Examples:
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\App\Cfg
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\App\Cfg\
Completion statusRetrieve Action execution status with a possible value—Successful or Failed. Or Empty, if Action has not been executed yet.
