Overview of Play audio file Action

Automation Workshop includes Play audio file Action, that can play audio files in .wav format. Playing audio files can be very useful to notify user that the Task has successfully finished or, on the contrary, has experienced an unexpected error. Besides supplementing the wide range of Automation Workshop alerts and notifications, the capacity to play audio files can be useful in numerous other ways when designing Tasks that interact with user.

  • Plays either particular or context-dependent audio file.
  • Can draw attention of user that an intervention is necessary.
  • Play audible alert before performing one of the user interaction Actions (e.g. Show Message, Input Dialog, Question Dialog, etc.).
Usage examples:
  • Use Play audio file Action before Actions that require user interaction.
  • Draw user attention upon some Action experiencing an error.
  • Automatically play audio file when all other Actions within Task have successfully finished.

Action propertiesDetails
SoundSpecify an audio file to be played.
OptionsChoose whether to wait until playback of audio file is finished or to play it in background.
ErrorsChoose which Action errors will lead to On Error behavior.
On ErrorSet the number of retries performed upon Action error; specify report email From and To addresses, run a different Task, switch to another Action of the same Task or stop the Task entirely.
